The Claflin Foundation Scholarship Guidelines

Are You Eligible?

Mason County graduation high school students are eligible to apply for The Robert and Louise Claflin Foundation Scholarship to receive funding to attend a post-secondary institution. This would include a college or university to pursue a certification, associates or bachelor’s degree, as well as a trade school for learning a skill.

Application Eligibility

Must be resident of Mason County, WV and graduating from a high school in Mason County

Demonstrate financial need

Must be a full time student in accordance to the institution’s definition of “full time”

Must demonstrate academic achievement

Application Deadline

All applications are due by May 1st and are reviewed by a selection committee. It is a competitive process with decisions based on financial need and academic potential.

Award Amount

The scholarship is $1,000.00 with a check payable to the recipient and post-secondary institution. The scholarship is renewable for $1,000.00 per year for a total of $4,000.00. Renewal decisions are based on continued financial need and academic achievement during post-secondary coursework. Renewals are not automatic and must be requested via online application each year.

Award Notification

Selected recipients will be rewarded during the high school awards ceremonies whereas renewals are notified by correspondence.
